A police probe has been launched after a man was discovered with a serious head injury in Methil.
Neighbours called emergency services on Thursday, 30 March after blood started dripping through a ceiling from an upstairs flat.
After fire crews forced entry to the property a 39 year-old man with a serious head wound was discovered.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Fife were called to Den Walk in Methil at 2.40pm on Thursday, March 30 following a report of concern for a person.
“The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service forced entry to a flat and a 39-year-old man was found with a serious head injury.
“He was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, then the Western General in Edinburgh where he continues to receive treatment.
“Enquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing, however at this time there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his injuries.”
